Japan doesn’t “really” have Christmas like in the west. And doesn’t have thanksgiving. So Amazon Japan decided it would make up a “cyber week” last year. It started Dec. 10th and ran for 7 days. So way later than in the western markets. Look for Amazon to be really pushing this as a shopping season next year.

Side tip, make sure you don’t peak and sell out too early. Loads of sales still to be made last 2 days before Christmas. Japanese Christmas shopping is really late.

I would like to add, that they certainly do have Christmas in Japan, only it is completely devoid of any religious overtones. In fact, if you ask a child what Christmas is, they will most likely reply, “Santa’s birthday”!
